[ boothill doesn't know that robin lives here because he can't read!!! he just happened to go to the cabin to look for some essentials that he can bring to the barn. he invites himself right inside.
for flavor, right across his cropped jacket, in bright yellow words:
GRAEY NICK CLEMENTINE
he's surprised to see robin there when he walks in. ]
Miss Robin. [ tips his hat. ] They got you shackin' up here?
[ she doesn't know he doesn't know how to read, so she assumes he just didn't see the plaque. she notes the words but her gaze doesn't linger. the word brother is etched in the space between her elbow and shoulder. ]
Yes. It's a bit of fortune in this place. I've heard that you aren't as pleased about yours.
[ boothill has already had the posters read out to him. he spots robin at the bulletin board after he checked on a few others. he's quick to jog up and meet her there. ]
Miss Robin. [ he looks obviously distressed, looking her over. ] You all right? Anythin' happen last night?
[ the way so much of murder is rude to his illiteracy.
there is nothing off about her physically. she has a permanently worried expression today. thanks, aventurine (and npc). she has been walking around this whole village, checking on anyone she comes across. ]
Mr. Boothill, I'm not hurt. I was at the cabin... although it locked us all in at some point somehow. Are you all right?
Same thing happened ta' us. Got us all trapped at the barn. Couldn't get those muddle-fudgin' doors open no matter what the fork we tried. Aqua supposed it was one a'those monster tricks. She was pro'bly right on the money.
Some in the cabin thought it was a prank, too, but... if more of us were locked in, or confined, could someone's affinity be that powerful...? I don't think mine could cover that much.
[ it reveals that boothill still looks. insane! but he is behind the barrier hello. he's sitting down, one leg bent, elbow propped on his kneecap. his voice sounds deep and cybernetic, and he still has a pointy stepford smile. ]
Oh, I am just lovely, Miss Robin. You're the first one ta' ask this evenin'. I appreciate it.
[ they're at the jazz bar because it's where the alcohol and music is at. it may be a little different from what's on penacony, but what matters it has that alcohol that boothill can't stop talking about.
that costs his whole bank account, if he even has one. ]
Mr. Boothill, you haven't already had your fill of Asdana's White Oak yet, have you?
Asdana's White Oak is on the stronger 'n peatier side, Miss Robin. You want somethin' that'll go down easier, I can whip it up for you, though I ain't a barkeep like Mister Daan or Mister Stellaron.
[ they're just sitting at one of the benches in the mall i decided... cats are twisting around their legs and asking for pets. boothill has his hat off and a hand on his face. ]
[ HEY.... GIVE HER A CAT. another friendly one comes up to meow at robin. she is a ragdoll who loves pets and laps. ]
Yeah. 'N her last memory will be her bleedin' out in a pool of red.
[ ... ]
I brought up the idea with someone before. You think the memories of this place might be precious enough for, I don't know, the Garden of Recollection?
he is so confused about the hug?? but it's affection week along with everything else, so he's giving off appreciation vibes and actually feels better. he just sets a hand on her arm and lightly pats her back. ]
There's a forkin' curse like that? How long did that go for?
